Religious Education

St. George Religious Education is available for children in grades K-8.  Classes are on Sundays, from 9:00 am – 10:00  am during the school year and are held in the Parish Hall.  Classes will reusme on September 13, 2015.

Rite of Christian Initation for Adults (RCIA)

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (“RCIA”) is a program where catechists, sponsors and directors accompany adults on their faith journey.  They are guided to enter or to complete their initiation.  They are prepared to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.

All are welcome to join in the Journey in Faith. Many ordinary parishioners find the sessions helpful to develop their knowledge of their faith and their understanding of its traditions.

Youth & Family Ministry

Family Ministry partners with families to help them develop a strong family faith life. We strive to assist families to act on the values shown to us in the Gospel.  We encourage all types and in all the stages of the family life cycle, to share their talents with the community. Together we can create a sense of belonging for all.

Some of the projects we have had are making Prayer Blankets for anyone who is homebound or in the hospital.  Contact the Parish Office if you know someone who would like a blanket.

Family Ministry sponsors the Memorial Day Reception, hosts a Vacation Bible School, Movie Night for the children, Casino Trip for adults, a Waterpark trip for families, and a Christmas Trip to Navy Pier.

Art & Environment

St. George’s Art & Environment Committee is responsible for the beautification of the St. George Church.  As the liturgical seasons change, the committee decorates God’s house with flowers, greenery, etc. This committee at St. George prides itself on being open and welcoming to new members.

Are you a friendly outgoing person?  Do you like to read aloud?  Are you interested in serving others?  These questions can all be answered by participating in the liturgy as ministers.  Greeters and Ushers are the first impression people have of St. George as they attend Mass.  Profess the Word of God by being a lector. Sacristans prepare the Eucharistic Table for all the Masses. Eucharistic ministers serve during Communion.  Contact Michele if you would like to be added to the schedule.

Altar Servers

Students may be altar servers (they must be going into the 4th grade and have received First Communion).  This is a way children are able to serve and be an active part of their parish community. Contact David for further information.
